First, if you're new to Twitter, it's worth watching the short video on how to use the service. If you don't know how to send direct messages, here are Twitter's instructions. You'll need to know how to do this before you start anything on your.flowingdata.

Once you're set with that, follow the three steps below:

Follow @yfd on Twitter
Sign in to your.flowingdata with Twitter.
Once @yfd follows you back (usually no more than a couple of minutes), start recording data following a few simple guidelines.
